Lebamap is an indie casual simulation adventure game set on PC that recreates the entire country of Lebanon at true 1:1 scale. Built from real map data, it places every road, coastline, valley, and town in its accurate location across more than 10,000 square kilometres. Beirut to Tripoli measures 67 kilometres as the crow flies and roughly 80 kilometres by road, giving players a faithful representation of the Mediterranean shore, mountain peaks, and inland valleys in a painted visual style that evokes weathered stone under warm sun, glowing streets at night, and skies that shift throughout the day.
Gameplay
The core loop centres on free-form exploration of a living open world. Players move on foot through neighbourhoods such as the Corniche, Hamra, and Downtown Beirut in either first- or third-person view. Vehicles line the streets and number nearly 200 distinct types, ranging from scooters to buses, allowing realistic road travel that follows actual routes. Swimming and diving are possible along the coast, while optional god mode enables flight over the full terrain. A full-country map supports GPS route planning or instant travel to any location. Traffic follows real roads and pedestrians occupy pavements in numbers that match real population data. The sun sets over the sea, building windows illuminate after dark, and weather can mirror live conditions reported at Beirut airport. Character creation and extensive graphics options, including shadows, anti-aliasing, 3D clouds, field of view, and text size, let players tailor the experience. Controls support both keyboard and mouse or gamepad.
Game Modes
Two modes are available at launch. Sandbox grants unrestricted access to the full map with no rules, supporting walking, driving, swimming, and diving at will. Rising Sea introduces a survival challenge where rising waters gradually cover the land, requiring players to reach and remain on higher ground for as long as possible. Additional modes remain in development.
Exploration and World Features
Real-scale geography forms the foundation of every journey. Specific routes such as the coast road to Tripoli, the climb toward the Cedars, the crossing of the Bekaa Valley to Baalbek, or the southern coastal path to Saida and Tyre all correspond to actual distances and terrain. Beirut airport appears as a functional location where players can enter the terminal and board flights. The environment includes dynamic elements like moving traffic and populated streets that reflect real demographics. Data sources for the map include OpenStreetMap for roads and places, elevation surveys, land-cover information, and population figures, ensuring geographic accuracy without procedural invention during play.
Is It Worth Playing?
Lebamap targets players who enjoy deliberate, geography-focused exploration in a single-player sandbox. Its appeal lies in the precise recreation of Lebanon's layout and the freedom to traverse it by multiple means of transport or on foot. With the game listed as coming soon and no user reviews available yet, reception remains unknown. Those drawn to realistic-scale open worlds, casual simulation of daily movement, and modes that combine free roaming with light survival elements will find the described systems directly relevant. Availability on PC with family sharing and adjustable performance settings broadens accessibility for different hardware. The combination of verified map fidelity and straightforward mechanics positions it as a niche title for map enthusiasts and relaxed adventurers rather than action-oriented audiences.
