Raised as a Woundbearer, Arem greatly desires to come of age and do his part in improving the lives of his community- none more so than Sachita, the burning girl, shunned by The Settlement but whom he loves dearly.Â
Yet, when Arem is suddenly given the responsibilities he always dreamed of, he finds his certainty shattered by the truth of the horror held at The Settlement’s close reach. Now doubting the only life he's ever known, Arem embarks on a secret mission to save his people and unravel the true nature of his world.   Â
