What is Barzakh: Star Gardener?
Barzakh: Star Gardener is an adventure-puzzle game inspired by Sufi mysticism and the poetic spirit of The Little Prince. In the game, Emir, stranded in a desert after a plane crash, embarks on a metaphysical journey. He nurtures a garden within his mind, growing it with stars discovered along the way. Other selves accompany him on this journey, and he explores unfamiliar universes.
So, What is ‘Barzakh’?
Barzakh, in Islamic mysticism, is the invisible veil between the worldly life and the afterlife—a space of transition and seeking. In Barzakh: Star Gardener, this concept symbolizes Emir’s spiritual journey born from desert solitude. He searches for lost stars across different universes, encountering giants in medieval darkness or solving challenging puzzles in worlds where physics bends.
Stars and the Star Garden
Emir uncovers hidden stars in universes by solving puzzles. Each star points to a word. Every universe or section has its own star and word. As stars are collected, a journey into Emir’s mind begins, planting star seeds in his garden. As a star gardener, he nurtures his stars. At the end of each section, he faces his past in this garden.
