Project Vanquisher is an action indie game for PC in which players escape a corporate prison tower using a prototype weapon that changes form during play. The experience centers on procedural generation for every visual and audio element, combined with a morphing gun system and a focus on score chains in single-player runs or local split-screen races.
Gameplay
The core loop involves navigating 120 procedurally arranged rooms spread across ten themed sectors. Each sector introduces distinct hazards such as scalding vents, blinding fog, slippery ice, or radiation that ignores cover. The Vanquisher 3000 serves as the sole weapon and does not use traditional ammunition. Instead it shifts between eight forms across eight power levels, producing different behaviors that vary from one run to the next.
Combat and movement reward precision. Kills build a chain multiplier that reaches x4, but any hit halves the current multiplier. Clearing rooms without taking damage and within tight time limits doubles the end-of-room bonus. All enemies, walls, gunfire effects, and soundtrack notes generate at runtime through polygon masks and a real-time lighting model paired with a numpy-based synthesizer. The initial launch processes the generation, after which subsequent loads complete instantly.
Ten hand-designed bosses appear once per sector. Each features multiple phases, distinct tells, and unique audio cues. Controller support is full, and the game runs in English or Greek. Records track performance per difficulty level.
Game Modes
Single-player campaign mode sends the prisoner through the full tower toward the Spire, where the Overseer waits. The structure remains linear in sector order while room layouts and enemy placements change with each attempt.
Race mode supports two to four players on the same local machine through split-screen. Two players divide the screen horizontally while three or four players each receive a quarter of the display. All participants start in different cells of the same procedurally generated layout. The first to reach the exit wins the race. When players meet inside a room, friendly fire is active and only one continues; the eliminated player sits out for sixty seconds. Players may select the complete campaign or race through any single sector.
Procedural Systems and Design
Every visual and audio component exists only as code that assembles on load. No pre-made textures, sprite sheets, or sound samples reside on disk. This approach produces unique polygon-based environments and synthesized music for each session while keeping file size minimal. The ten sectors each carry a distinct theme that influences both hazards and enemy behavior, ensuring variety across repeated attempts without altering the fundamental goal of reaching the exit.
The scoring system functions as an additional layer of challenge. Maintaining high chains demands consistent avoidance of damage and efficient room clears. One ending exists, yet the combination of weapon forms, room sequences, and timing choices creates many distinct paths to strong performances.
Is It Worth Playing?
Project Vanquisher targets players who enjoy precise action gameplay built around a transforming weapon, procedural variety, and score optimization. The local split-screen race mode adds a competitive element for groups with access to a single PC and multiple controllers. Because the title remains unreleased with a planned launch in late 2026, no player reception data or post-launch updates exist yet. Those drawn to roguelike-style runs, chain-based scoring, and compact local multiplayer sessions will find the described systems align directly with those preferences. Availability will be limited to PC at launch.
