Ranch Attack: Farmer on the Run is an action indie casual game for PC that puts players in control of a farmer racing along an endless farm road while dealing with waves of charging goats. The core loop centers on timing jumps over obstacles and grabbing animals mid-charge to hurl them into the herd for chain reactions that build score and combos.
Gameplay
The action unfolds as a fast 3D arcade runner where the farmer moves forward automatically through rolling scenery of barns, silos, windmills, and water towers. Players use keyboard, gamepad, or touch controls to leap over charging goats or catch them to throw into others. Goats knocked into more goats create the highest scores through combo chains. Different goat types require adjusted timing: standard goats charge steadily, bighorns move faster and hit harder, tiny ones are easy to misjudge in size, rage goats activate only when close, and jumpers hop unexpectedly. From wave six a fast pig appears that must be caught because only a thrown pig can stop a charging buck, which arrives from wave ten. A bull joins from wave twelve and cannot be grabbed at all, so clean jumps over it earn points and maintain combos.
Power-ups appear as a horseshoe that doubles score and a hay bale that restores health. Three lives start each run, with an extra life granted for every one hundred goats flipped or jumped. Road hazards increase the challenge as waves progress, and perfect waves reward throwing every goat without any jump-overs, granting a growing bonus plus two extra hay bales.
Game Modes
Wave survival forms the main experience, with three selectable difficulties that adjust the pace and density of threats. Runs continue through successive waves until lives run out, and career progress tracks flips, jumps, waves completed, and high scores toward unlocks. The Gear Barn serves as a hub for earned rewards, including six outfits and three herds that players obtain through play rather than purchase. Starting as the Ranch Farmer, players can unlock the Classic Farmer after ten thousand career flips. The original prototype of the game becomes available as a bonus once its trophy is earned from the Gear Barn.
Progress saves locally on the machine, and three switchable background tunes play alongside authentic farm-animal sounds. The endless farm setting keeps the environment varied while the wave structure provides clear session goals.
New Features in the Updated Version
Every animal, prop, and backdrop has been redrawn for a fresh visual style that matches the original feel more closely. A second playable farmer expands variety, and the Gear Barn adds a progression ladder where flips, jumps, waves, and scores all contribute to earning outfits and herds. The included prototype offers a direct way to compare the new build against the earliest version once unlocked.
Is It Worth Playing?
This single-player offline experience suits fans of short, repeatable arcade sessions focused on timing, combos, and survival against escalating waves. The mix of grab-and-throw mechanics with varied enemy behaviors and perfect-wave challenges gives clear reasons to replay for higher scores and unlocks. With no microtransactions and everything earned through play, the game appeals to players who enjoy pure skill-based progression on PC. Those who liked the prior version will find the rebuilt art, additional farmer, and bonus content a direct upgrade while retaining the same core loop. Availability on keyboard, gamepad, or touch broadens accessibility for different play styles.
