No More Room in Hell 2 is a co-op zombie survival shooter built around permadeath and character progression. Players take on the role of emergency responders dropped into zombie-overrun zones on the PS5, where the goal is to scavenge supplies, locate teammates, and complete objectives before extracting or succumbing to the horde.
Gameplay
The core loop centers on scavenging and survival in large, detailed environments. Each session begins with limited resources, often just a simple melee option like a bottle, and players must explore locations such as abandoned gas stations, bars, and checkpoints to gather weapons, ammunition, and medical supplies. Proximity voice chat helps coordinate with up to seven other players, allowing the group to regroup and strengthen over the course of a match. Progression comes through successful extractions that carry over equipment and character improvements, while death resets those gains entirely.
Infection adds a layer of tension. Bites or exposure start a timer that requires finding antidotes or gene therapy items before the player turns and becomes a threat to the team. This system forces difficult choices about risk versus reward, such as whether to push forward to save a downed teammate or prioritize personal survival. Maps feature day and night cycles with distinct atmospheres, from urban streets at dusk to rural power facilities at midnight, each filled with claustrophobic interiors and open areas that demand different tactics against the undead.
Game Modes
The primary experience is cooperative extraction gameplay where teams of eight work together to navigate maps, complete mission objectives, and reach extraction points. Objectives involve clearing paths through infested areas, securing resources, and pushing toward the end of each zone while managing escalating zombie threats. The mode emphasizes teamwork and resource management, with matches that can shift from isolated starts to coordinated squad movements equipped with assault rifles and explosives.
A dedicated Survival mode is scheduled to arrive with the full 1.0 release. This will expand on defensive and endurance elements within the same co-op framework, building on the existing permadeath and progression systems already present in Early Access.
Maps and Atmosphere
Five maps are available at launch, each with unique layouts and lighting conditions that influence gameplay. Lewiston offers urban navigation through a ruined city during golden hour. Power Plant takes place on the outskirts of rural Pennsylvania at night. Pottsville features tight suburban streets at dawn. Broadway delivers dense city blocks in Queens after dark. Beaulieu Hospital unfolds during daylight across a sprawling medical complex. Additional maps are planned for future updates. These environments encourage exploration of horror staples like empty buildings and military outposts while maintaining constant pressure from the undead.
Is It Worth Playing?
No More Room in Hell 2 suits players who enjoy hardcore co-op zombie shooters with meaningful consequences for failure. The permadeath and infection mechanics create tension that rewards careful play and strong communication. Current player feedback on the Early Access version is mixed, reflecting both the appeal of the core systems and areas still under development. The game reaches consoles including PS5 alongside the full release planned for summer 2026, which will include the new Survival mode and further content. Those drawn to intense group survival experiences with scavenging and progression will find the most value here, especially once the title exits Early Access and receives additional polish and features.
