There Exists is a VR narrative experience that brings to light the emotional and complex realities of first contact between English settlers and the Traditional Owners of the land in 1790s New South Wales, Australia.
Told through the intertwined lives of an English indentured servant and the Dharug people whose land was being taken, the story reveals the quiet moments, brutal ruptures, and fragile connections that defined this early colonial period.
Developed in collaboration with First Nations and UK-based artists, historians, and cultural consultants, There Exists draws from archival records, oral histories, and extensive research to reconstruct a past too often silenced. You are invited to witness not just historical facts, but the human experiences behind them — displacement, survival, resilience, and loss.
Supported by the BFI Film Fund, StoryFutures Academy, and the South Australian Film Corporation, There Exists is a powerful retelling of a shared yet contested history, where memory and emotion guide us through the echoes of a world forever changed.
