Sniper Elite 5 Complete Edition is a tactical third-person shooter focused on stealth and precision sniping during World War II. Players take on the role of Allied operative Karl Fairburne in occupied France, working through large open maps to complete objectives while avoiding or eliminating Axis forces.
Gameplay
The core loop centers on reconnaissance, positioning, and calculated shots. Players use binoculars to tag enemies, study patrol routes, and select vantage points before engaging. Bullet drop, wind, and realistic physics influence every rifle shot, while the signature X-ray kill cam reveals the internal damage caused by successful hits on bones, organs, or vital areas. Weapon customization runs deep, with options to modify rifles, secondary weapons, and pistols through scopes, stocks, barrels, magazines, and specialized ammunition ranging from armor-piercing rounds to non-lethal alternatives.
Traversal mechanics support varied approaches. Players can zip along lines, slide down slopes, and move along ledges to reach better firing positions or bypass guards. The campaign consists of nine main missions in the base experience, with additional story content available in the Complete Edition. Co-operative play allows a second player to join for shared objectives, ammo, and support. Difficulty settings range from assisted modes to an authentic option that removes most aids, requiring manual calculation of ballistics.
Game Modes
Invasion Mode adds a dynamic layer to the campaign. A third player can drop in as an Axis sniper to hunt the primary operative, turning a solo mission into a tense game of cat and mouse. The invaded player can also request assistance from another sniper for co-operative defense. This mode integrates directly with campaign progress and heightens the stakes through live player interaction.
Adversarial multiplayer supports up to sixteen participants in competitive matches. Participants customize loadouts and earn experience, medals, and ribbons through objective-based play. Survival Mode lets up to four players team up against successive waves of enemies on dedicated maps. These options provide structured alternatives to the single-player campaign while maintaining the emphasis on marksmanship and positioning.
Campaign and Content
The Complete Edition bundles the full base campaign with Season Pass One and Season Pass Two content. This includes four additional missions that expand the story of Operation Kraken and related operations, along with multiple weapon packs, character skins, and the Target FĂĽhrer: Wolf Mountain mission. All elements integrate into the existing progression system, giving players access to extra weapons, customization options, and objectives without separate purchases.
Maps emphasize real-world inspired locations in France, with layered environments that reward exploration and multiple infiltration routes. The improved traversal system expands the playable area compared to earlier entries, allowing more creative paths through villages, factories, and coastal defenses.
Is It Worth Playing?
Sniper Elite 5 Complete Edition delivers a self-contained tactical shooter experience with strong emphasis on player choice and marksmanship. The bundled content provides dozens of hours across the main campaign, extra missions, and multiplayer modes. Player feedback has been consistently positive, with high approval ratings on major platforms and praise for the satisfying sniping mechanics and level design.
This package suits players who prefer methodical, sandbox-style gameplay over fast-paced action. Those who enjoy stealth planning, weapon experimentation, and occasional competitive or co-operative sessions will find substantial value in the Complete Edition on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. The game remains fully supported with all content available at launch of the edition, making it a complete package for new players or those seeking the full set of missions and tools.
