The nations defaulted. Their creditors took the armies.
High Yield Warfare is a modern-era real-time strategy game in the spirit of the classic Command & Conquer games: grounded units, hard counters and a world with a dark, satirical edge.Seven years after the Default, three powers fight over the Corridor, a strip of coast, desert and mountains where the world's pipelines, its busiest port and its undersea data cables come ashore. Whoever holds it holds the world's power, trade and data. None of them are the good guys.
Three factions, three ideologies
- The Compact: the creditors and the states that signed on with them. Expensive high-tech units, strong defences, and officers who call a battle a "hostile acquisition".
- The Directorate: the populist bloc that stormed the corporate headquarters and nationalized everything. Cheap, numerous and heavily armed, for the Plan.
- The Unlisted: the millions the system deleted. Technicals, stolen vehicles and patched-up rifles; fast, fragile and deadly from an ambush.
Tactics, not attack-move
- Scout before you commit. Fog of war and real line of sight: ridges, rocks and buildings hide what's waiting on the other side.
- Counters decide fights. Lead with the right units, or lose the ones you can't replace.
- Ambushes and convoys. Set up in hold fire, spring the trap, escort or intercept. Infantry ride into battle in Humvees, technicals and trucks.
- Every survivor counts. Missions are scored on the units you bring home.
